Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Powerpoint
I use Microsoft Powerpoint to design executive presentations for C-level professionals. This product helps me tell stories based on data, to drive better business decisions. The shortcuts and customizations allow me to be extremely efficient in terms of time. Embedded tools like links to Microsoft Excel as well as add-ins for data visualization are extremely helpful in my scope. I also enjoy the online syncing of files, so that I never lose my data and others can collaborate with me at the same time.
Pros
- Easy, customizable shortcuts like aligning objects, editing fonts and colors, etc.
- Integration with Microsoft Excel for data visualization and automatically updated charts
- Templates like table of contents that automatically link to the chapters are very useful
Cons
- Smart Art can really improve its graphs
- Tables should be defaulted to redistribute columns and rows
- Sometimes the links to Excel files get lost and I never understood why
- I wish there was an easier way to save graph templates and defaults in a same presentation
- Microsoft Powerpoint has allowed around 10 people to work simultaneously on an urgent presentation, reducing around 3 days production time to 1 day.
- Google Slides and Canva
Both Google Slides and Canva are way more complex to use than Microsoft Powerpoint. They have specific symbols that are hard to memorize, many tools are hidden, they are harder to navigate, and shortcuts are not customizable, which makes everything less efficient. Google Slides specifically has a way of misaligning objects, as its automatic ruler suggestions are very inaccurate when compared to Microsoft Powerpoint.
