Overall Satisfaction with MySQL

Our organisation's data is housed in MySQL databases and is therefore the main codebase used by our developers. Within my area of responsibility, MySQL is the primary language used within Sisense, our BI platform.
  • Cost.
  • Widespread usage ensures that well established and comprehensive support resources are always available.
  • None really, with our BI platform, mySQL performs more than adequately.
  • It has been a critical tool for our business, enabling us to develop our web applications, and meet our requirements for levels of functionality and ease of use whilst its open source nature means it is extremely cost effective for us.
We work primarily in a web application environment, for which mySQL's performance is great. I have heard that it is less well suited to larger non-web databases and very complex queries, though we don't have direct experience of this.
