Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use NAKIVO for backup at our two data centers, one in the US and one in the UK. Since our environment is primarily virtual, NAKIVO helps make backups simple and straightforward. The product is versatile in that we have used it for single file restores all the way up to complete VM restores.

Pros and Cons

The web interfaces is simple and easy to use
Performing a restore is easy using the built in wizard
Setting up new backup jobs takes no time and all.

Reporting could use some work. I think there is a calendar feature but it's not available given our current license level. I think this should come standard.
We've had corrupted backup issues in the past and had to reach out to support. They are the only ones who can fix the built-in backup DB problem. It would be nice if there was a way for the end-user to do it without having to get support involved.

Return on Investment

Due to ease of use, NAKIVO allowed us to spend more time on other tasks knowing that our backup system will just run as expected.
Since moving to NAKIVO, we've been able to do away with tapes and move to a disk/cloud-based model.

Support Rating

NAKIVO support is always quick to respond and ready to help whenever we open a ticket. They make it easy by including the option to open a ticket and upload any necessary troubleshooting files directly from within the web interface.

Usability

The interface provided with NAKIVO is very user-friendly. Anyone can navigate through creating a connection to a server or virtual environment, create a backup repository and schedule their first backup. The only reason why I didn't give it a higher score is that the main dashboard can feel a little cluttered at times with no way to design a custom dashboard.

Contract Terms and Pricing Model

I don't really have any complaints about the contract or terms. The price per unit is on par, sometimes less, then most backup systems today.

NAKIVO is well suited for virtual environments where simplicity and ease of use are desired.
