Overall Satisfaction with OnBoard Board Management Software

Our college uses OnBoard to allow our board of trustees to have instant access to safe and secure board materials. The portal allows the board members to remain engaged. This service also allows me, as administrator, to keep track of board terms, contact information, etc that I used to have to keep track of manually using a variety of different spreadsheets and folders. We currently have 20 board members and they find OnBoard to be very easy to use.
  • Secure board materials - the administrator can control what board members see what materials.
  • Contact information - email and mailing addresses are readily available.
  • Board terms - term lengths for every board member is tracked through the system.
  • Meeting feedback - simple surveys are sent immediately after a meeting to get feedback from meeting attendees for future planning.
  • Most all of the areas that we needed to more effectively manage our board meetings are included now.

After researching and using other board management software, I recommended OnBoard to our administration and board leadership because of their partnership with the Associate of Governing Boards (higher education) and the features that came with our initial package. Many of the products I researched only offered slick board books and didn't have the administrative features we were looking for in a board portal. Since we selected them, OnBoard has added new features once or twice a year. They offer monthly webinars to help promote or use new products, hear feedback from other users on utilizing features and other such topics.

OnBoard [Board Management Software] can be utilized for new board member orientation or refresher courses for trustees who have been serving for awhile. Board members can access the information at their leisure rather than just during an in-person session. We rarely have to print hard copies of board materials now that trustees have had a chance to get used to using OnBoard. Creating meetings and getting the information to board members is now immediate. Reminders about upcoming meetings are generated automatically by OnBoard which frees up my time.

Using OnBoard Board Management Software

60 - Each of our board members, the President's cabinet and faculty, student and alumni representatives to trustee committees have access to meeting materials through OnBoard. Access to confidential information can be made accessible to board members only. We can post campus announcements or reports to the Annoucement feature that keeps everyone engaged between meetings.
2 - There is one administrator for the software on our end. That person needs to know how to use the various features of the software. We also have one (or possible more) IT people who have access to the back-end of our portal to run reports for management on user activity.

We have already renewed our use for this fiscal year and will, most likely, do so for the next fiscal year. The board members are very happy with the ease of use of the software and access to materials. I am very happy with the ongoing webinars provided by OnBoard so that I can hear "best practice" tips from colleagues and learn about new features being added to the portfolio.
