Overall Satisfaction with Optimizely Content Management System

It currently allows our organization to quickly and effectively update content without the bottleneck of developers or designers. We can iterate and build quicker with Optimizely Content Management System compared to our previous solutions of WordPress or having developers own the content. Having the technology paired with the experimentation tool and everything in one place is great.

Pros

  • Ease of use
  • integrations
  • Consolidation of tech

Cons

  • Product gaps of WordPress
  • Better integrations with things like Next JS or Svelte
  • More developer resources
  • Faster go-to-market
  • Less context switching for development teams
We use Optimizely's experimentation and personalization offerings and they are wildly helpful in allowing us as an organization to go to market faster, and to be able to expand on particular campaigns faster than we could before in a very static environment. We are largely more agile with less bottlenecks.
Almost immediately. The API documentation for CMS 12 is very catered toward legacy ASP.net systems, but we were able to utilize the documentation to get it set up correctly. There definitely was some back and forth from the development team, but we found ways to accommodate our needs without having to bring in our CSM.
The ease-of-use is something I'd give to each one of Optimizely's offering. There is a consistency between their products that allows for little mental overhead needing to know "where is this feature", and instead having a straightforward user experience. I do appreciate that it ties in with the other Optimizely products as well.
It does feel a bit more legacy, but sometimes legacy can be good for companies. For both the companies we mapped against, it was clear the idea of server maintenance was out of question for us and we wanted a service that would provide uptime and us just doing the work of content modeling and consuming.

If I were tasked to help service a SAAS company already using Optimizely's experimentation offering, I'd immediately recommend it utilize the Content Management System offering. Consolidating AB testing and CMS technology is a huge gain for teams that want to remain lean and agile. If you're paying for it, you might as well use it.
