Overall Satisfaction with Oracle Dyn Managed DNS

We use Oracle Dyn Managed DNS as one of two providers (primary-secondary) for the whole infrastructure of our SaaS solution and also for auxiliary needs - like internal development purposes or the marketing website.

Pros

  • Stability/reliability of the service
  • Decent user interface
  • Good API

Cons

  • Authentication and user management (confusing two layers of portal vs. DynECT)
  • Positive impact (I am not in charge of finance though).
We selected it for stability. It has a way better UI than UltraDNS. Oracle Dyn has a clear user interface without bloatware, and the actions don't surprise you.

Route 53 - Their main benefit is the integration with the rest of the Amazon Web Services suite, something other vendors will never be able to offer.
I don't remember when I used the support the last time. The service just works.
Way better UI than UltraDNS and has the full functionality we would want to use including primary/secondary zone management, zone transfers, and basic reporting.
Well-suited for heavy load of DNS traffic with multiple zones, especially if managed programmatically. Less appropriate if you just have two DNS entries for your personal website.
