Overall Satisfaction with Oracle Linux

We have decided to replace old windows machines with Oracle Linux machines. This initially we thought would create some unknown issues, but after using Oracle Linux for months, we felt that this was a good decision which was made then. I can say Oracle Linux has all the features that Windows has and in some in exceeds the expectations.
  • Since it's a free and open source software, it suits great even for small startups.
  • Lots of stable features.
  • Backed by prestigious corporation.
  • Good support team.
  • GUI could be enhanced to match the ease of Windows/Ubuntu.
  • Technical learning curve for new users could be reduced with best tutorials.
  • Since this has less users, support community pages from users are very less.
  • Reduces overall ownership of Oracle Linux.
  • Since its FOSS, support community and help from all other users.
  • Integrating the server is a bit tedious.
  • Compatibility with older version programs can be certainly improved. I mean to say backward compatibility.
All the other three have a large user base already by now and Oracle Linux is still unheard of with many Linux communities. Even though it has most of the features like others, it still is not as widespread as others. It may be Oracle Linux needs to push this into the market more drastically for achieving more users.
Firstly I would say since it's FOSS, everyone can try it. Next is its virtualization capabilities to utilize your organization's KVM environments. Its feature list is also good enough at par with Red Hat Linux. Security is also at par. Its almost no downtime updates are another advantage for Oracle Linux for me to give this rating.

Very much suitable for performance-related applications or projects as Oracle Linux is very much optimized. Oracle Linux internals like kernel management and memory management is very well tuned to suit high-performance demands. Easily installable and backs all the features which are within RedHat Linux as the main source code was from RedHat. RedHat lovers will really like Oracle Linux.
