Overall Satisfaction with PaperCut

PaperCut is used for secure print release to reduce toner and paper waste, provide print mobility for users on Chromebooks and personal devices, and allow administrators to review user printing history for accountability and troubleshooting. We also use it for Ferpa and HIPPA requirements and unprocessed print jobs are purged after 24 hours.

Pros

  • Integrates well with Canon Copiers
  • The interface is easy to navigate
  • Software updates are generally a quick process

Cons

  • Support isn't great
  • Can be difficult to get fully configured
  • Some users complain it's a little sluggish (it's not a server issue)
  • One central dashboard to monitor all of your devices, toner/ink levels can be monitored, etc.
  • It's easy to run ad hoc reports
  • It's compatible with almost any printer and modern copier
It’s mostly a “set it and forget it” solution, though we did need a third-party integrator to assist with the installation. The setup was complex, but once that hurdle was overcome, the system has been easy to maintain. The software also integrates seamlessly with Active Directory and other authentication platforms.

Do you think PaperCut delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with PaperCut's feature set?

Yes

Did PaperCut live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of PaperCut go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy PaperCut again?

Yes

We have a total of 62 copiers, and the system is excellent for managing both devices and users. Many staff print jobs are confidential, so privacy is critical. It also allows us to restrict how much users can print, with many configurable rules available. However, it’s probably not very useful for small organizations, and the licensing can become quite expensive.
