Overall Satisfaction with Pigeon Messengr
I work remotely, so I rely on Pigeon pretty heavily to keep in touch with my team. We have a channel for the whole department to share info and ask questions, and we can message each other individually or create separate chats of select people to discuss specific things. We use it every shift to let each other know who's active/working and when we are signing off.
Pros
- Notifications - I can minimize the window while I'm working and new messages will pop up on my screen so I don't have to remember to check the channel.
- Statuses - we always put up a status of what we're working on, I like how you can hover over user names and it will show you their statuses.
- Overall look - I don't know if my company chose the color scheme but it's really sharp. Also love that I can use Dark Mode, easier on my eyes for sure!
Cons
- Would like a "nudge" feature when people don't answer. I think it's easy to overlook new messages if they're in an older thread.
- That's all I can think of. Pigeon is great!
- Ability to create multiple channels for different topics or projects.
- Active/away indicator to easily see who is around.
- Reliable notifications so nothing gets missed.
- I don't have any insight regarding the cost or ROI, but it has been really helpful and I feel communication among the team has been pretty painless!
Pigeon is maybe a bit simpler than Slack, but it's also way easier to use because it's not overloaded with features. With Slack I found it annoying to upload files and I didn't like that we couldn't send gifs. It also had really low-quality emojis. Love the emojis and gifs with Pigeon, it really makes work a lot more fun.
