Overall Satisfaction with Planful

We use Planful in a variety of ways. We use it for forecast, budgeting, reporting, consolidations, and workforce planning. Planful has allowed us to implement a monthly rolling forecast that we previously did not have. It also allows us to provide self service reporting to different functions of the organization. We do these things through the variety of tools Planful offers, Dynamic planning, Structured planning, Workforce planning, reporting, and consolidations.

Our budget owners across the organization utilize structured planning to submit their forecasts and budgets which aggregate up to our overall financial plan. This has taken the burden off of our analysts to collect and load data to the system and allowed budget owners to manage their budgets more effectively.
This has been extremely helpful to have everything in one place. As finance experts know, the financial statements speak to one another and by having all of these tools in one system it has allowed for more automation and more consistency across the different functions a CFO manages. As an example, capital planning templates in Planful help us forecast our expenses on the P&L, assets on the Balance Sheet, and Additions on the Cash Flow Statement.
Previously we used Infor CPM and Alight Planning. Planful is head and shoulders above both of these systems. We have been extremely happy with it. It has cut our workload in half compared to the other two systems. There is little to nothing in the other two systems that we miss having since moving to Planful.

From a forecasting and budgeting standpoint, Planful is a top tiered software. It allows you to plan in a variety of ways, by giving you multiple tools in your toolbox. We use dynamic planning, structured planning, workforce planning, capital planning, as well as data loads to do a monthly rolling forecast. Each tool does a different job which is needed for different areas of planning. Data visualizations is one area where Planful is less well suited. If you are looking for data visualizations I would not recommend Planful.

Planful Features and Attributes

Planful is quick to respond to any support tickets. They are very consistent in delivering a solution. They also meet with us once a month to discuss any challenges we face and are innovative in their solutions.
Administration is very easy. I appreciate the flexibility it has. Budget owners also say that the like the usability of planful. Only area of improvement may be in dynamic planning. This is complex, although it is also very powerful an useful.
Planful has provided us with much faster reporting compared to our previous system Infor CPM. We previously had an allocation process that took 24 hours, it now takes only 1 hour with Planful. This means we can have results and analyze data day 1. This has been very helpful for us.
Yes, it has improved significantly. The audit trail that you can use in planful is very robust and easy to use. I can very easily tell where data is coming from and make any adjustments if needed.
Planful takes the time monthly to meet with me and my team. They listen to our concerns, help with any issues we have, give us insight into their roadmap, and provide additional help if needed.

Using Planful

100 - All business functions use Planful in our organization for budgeting and forecasting. Supply Chain, Marketing, Sales, HR, IT, Legal, Finance and Accounting, Executive, Customer Service.
2 - We have a finance transformation team of 2 people who are the admins for Planful. They spend about 50% of their time on Planful

We have seen great benefit from Planful. I would never say a 10 because we will always keep our eyes open to other options.

Evaluating Planful and Competitors

Yes - Infor CPM. This product was outdated and not being maintained.

Scalability was important. Since our previous system did not provide updates, it was important to have a system that did. Planful's focus is on their EPM platform unlike Infor that does many different things.
