Overall Satisfaction with PowerDMS
PowerDMS is used by our entire organization. It is a tool to provide access to agency policy and procedures as well as track approval of policies and employee review and receipt of new/updated policies and procedures. We are a consolidated countywide public safety answering point (PSAP) and dispatch center. We take 9-1-1 calls process them and dispatch police, fire, EMS and other governmental entities (e.g. animal control). In our industry it is imperative that we have a tracking process for approval of new or updated procedures. It is also imperative that we know when staff has received, reviewed and signed new or updated policies and procedures. PowerDMS allows us to do this and it ensures that employees are always looking at the most current policy regardless of whether or not they have signed it yet.
PowerDMS is also the tool that allows us to manage our Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) accreditation process and keep up with proofs of compliance quickly and easily.

- Tracking of policy approval and quick dissemination to all staff. This is key to making sure 9-1-1 personnel can make accurate decisions based on the most current policy. It also allows us to make sure only those persons with the authority to make policy changes do so.
- Policies and procedures in PowerDMS are easily uploaded and managed in the standards module. This keeps agencies from having to upload policies twice; once in a policy tracking system and again in a standards tracking system.
- PowerDMS allows me to set a time limit on viewing an important policy or procedure. This why I have some reassurance that employees aren't just signing new policies without reading them.
- I would like to see the highlighting process in Standards module improved. It's clunky and could use some work.
- Sometimes the permissions process for standards viewing and proof uploading gets confusing. I am not sure how to make it easier but it would be nice if it were.
- I can think of no negative impact PowerDMS has had on our agency.
- PowerDMS has certainly saved the killing of trees and the expense of paper for any policy change we had previously.
I haven't used any other product like PowerDMS. We began using it because it was highly recommended by other users at CALEA Conferences. Since then they have only grown stronger in my opinion.
