Overall Satisfaction with Progress Sitefinity

It is used as a marketing front-end as well as to manage a registered user base. We have installed several different instances to take on different roles. As far as marketing is concerned, it's great to leverage the built-in SEO and forms for lead generation capturing. For managing registered users, we customize Sitefinity to fit our business model which was straight-forward to do.
  • Progress Sitefinity does a great job of staying on top of new and ever-changing IT security threats and patching for it.
  • Progress Sitefinity has great support for people interested in customizing their instances with a vast knowledge base that includes videos and white papers.
  • Progress Sitefinity is great at communicating and following up on any opened support tickets.
  • Creating an out of box cloud deployment experience to ease the deployment burden.
  • Improve on their developers using source control and automated deployment experience.
  • Go back to their upfront pricing as opposed to having to speak to someone.
  • Ease of implementation
  • Costly
  • Ease of Management
Sitefinity, in my opinion, follows current Microsoft practices which make developing it a breeze. Kentico has always seemed a bit lagging in this department.
At the current price point, Sitefinity is too expensive for a simple brochure or lead generation website. There are a ton of great options out there for this use case. It is great if your website will include various integrations to third parties or user management that requires complex scenarios that need to be accounted for.

Using Progress Sitefinity

3 - They represent the marketing division of the company. They use the site to clients and prospects up to date on new service offerings of the company. It's also used as a lead generation mechanism for our company.
1 - We are a software development shop and we dedicate one of our developer's part-time attention to the site. The remainder of the site is left to marketing and administration as Sitefinity if setup correctly does actually run that smooth.
  • Ease of Use
  • Simple support and upgrade
  • Windows based
  • We've connected it to a document production system to produce original PDF content.
  • We could certainly leverage the different ways of authentication to make user management easier.
The ease of use and the out of box expectation that it is mobile-ready.

Evaluating Progress Sitefinity and Competitors

Yes - It replaced WordPress. The support model that Sitefinity provides is much more responsive to questions. Upgrades are also easier to implement.
  • Product Usability
  • Product Reputation
It was important for the non-development staff of our company to feel comfortable in update and administering our website. The tools provided along with the rich text editors make it a breeze for our staff to update any content.
The Sitefinity pricing model has changed since we acquired it for our company. I think the pricing would impact our decision a bit more in this case.

Progress Sitefinity Implementation

As with any CMS, make sure you plan out the site design.
Change management was minimal - It really depends on the change if any from your standard process. In our case, we went from WordPress to Sitefinity and while it was definitely and stack change, the ease of our marketing folks to pick up on the concepts was minimal.
  • Change in IT infrastructure when moving from WordPress
