Qlik Sense Enterprise

Overall Satisfaction with Qlik Sense

Used as a reporting tool for a few departments. The visualizations are mainly in table format for exporting out for report submission. Also, used as a data analytics tool for Finance to keep track of the organization purchasing, claims, and payments for the purpose of analyzing and detecting possible fraud, etc.

  • New releases every quarter
  • Connector options are great for connecting to different data sources
  • Visualization not as pretty compared to competitors
  • Seems to be getting a lot of patches for bug fixes which may imply lax quality control
  • A tool as a start for self-service analytics
At that point in time in 2016, Qlik Sense had more enterprise capabilities compared to Tableau which is a major plus point for us. However, I believe that since then, Tableau has caught up or on par with Qlik Sense for its enterprise capabilities. Qlik also has its own SAP connectors to connect to various SAP data sources such as SQL, query, and reports, etc. which helps in our decision as well.
Qlik Sense is well suited where users' data is clean and some of the datasets are already being transformed or linked together. It is less appropriate when the data is really raw though Qlik's association engine can help link the dataset together. When the user requires complicated reports with calculations, the user can't really self-service using the data load manager as some of the stuff would have to be scripted at the data load editor level.
