Overall Satisfaction with Read&Write

I use Read&Write in a school based setting. I use it with my students from grades 4 to high school to use mainly speech to text, word prediction, and playback. I love some of the tools that simplify reading materials and highlight tools. My favorite is simplify page.

Pros

  • Speech to text
  • Word prediction
  • Simple, non obtrusive toolbar
  • Simplify page
  • Highlight and picture dictionary features

Cons

  • More natural voice for writing playback
  • More use of AI tools for grading up or down text
  • Improve ability for the tech to know when to add punctuation when students are using speech to text
  • Improves accessibility for students with disabilities
  • Improves learning and comprehension for students
I love the simple, non obtrusive tool bar which can really help to decrease visual clutter while still allowing my students with disabilities to access what they need and get these tools. Read&Write works well on our chrome books which are really the only devices that we use Read&Write on.
Read&Write helped my student who had a lot of difficult with typing write a series of fun stories about a crazy cat from outer space. He was so proud of this story and that he was able to write it all by himself. He showed all of his teachers and even brought home some copies of the story for his family.
I also use orbit note along with Read&Write with my students. I like both of these as they do different things. Orbit note has a very similar toolbar to Read&Write which I like. This similarity also helps with carryover with students knowing what buttons to push on the tool bars.

Do you think Read&Write delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Read&Write's feature set?

Yes

Did Read&Write live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Read&Write go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Read&Write again?

Yes

I love using Read&Write for my students with disabilities. Fine motor barriers can impact writing and typing and this is a great alternative. The speech to text function is harder to use for the students who have speech impediments. I also like to use Read&Write to show tools for reading and simplifying web pages. I am working on getting all of the teachers in my school district wanting to use Read&Write. Many of them seem to think they don’t have the time to learn it.
