Overall Satisfaction with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)

We use it as the main operating system for all vms and serves in our environment. We use RHEL for the enterprise support model that Red Hat offers. In addition the maintained packages allow for constant support across upgrades of operating system version. Also the integration Red Hat satellite allows for more streamlined deployments and system maintenance

Pros

  • Package Support
  • Documentation
  • Driver and Hardware compatibility
  • Integration and software Interoperability

Cons

  • Support for Bleeding Edge softwear
  • Not shipping out/supporting legacy software (I.E gopher)
  • Interoperability with Capsel and satellite
It's a good OS for enterprise solutions but it's not a OS someone would use for daily tasks because of lacking end user software support.

Do you think Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)'s feature set?

Yes

Did Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) again?

Yes

RHEL is does not support a good amount of new desktop desktop environments and still requires the use of an outdated display manager. It's not an ideal environment for custom hardware or product design. even then, a OS like CentOS Stream could cover those use cases.
