Overall Satisfaction with Red Hat OpenShift
OpenShift powers our modernized applications in our on-premises environments. These apps serve multiple purposes but are among the most business-critical powering our information processing and robotic automation systems. Our environment is deployed in our two major data centers and critical operations sites. The number of nodes in production is 3000+.
Pros
- Horizontal Scaling of pods.
- Restarting of failed pods.
- Implementing our overall devops strategy.
Cons
- Hard learning curve.
- Ability to fail over pods like VMs.
- High overhead vs workloads.
- Improved developer velocity.
- Implementation of DevOps best practices.
- It improved application security via CI/CD pipelines and OpenShift security features such as Service Mesh.
The platform has had a positive effect on application team productivity and velocity, both on the development and implementation sides. The technology has allowed the organization to overcome legacy processes and procedures to improve efficiency.
