Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (self-managed)
Overall Satisfaction with Red Hat OpenShift
We started using it for more agile deployments, quicker deployments and higher availability
Pros
- Manages the application deployments
- Makes efficient use of operators for a more standard installation
- Provides a stable environment for running applications.
Cons
- Alerting. More easily create alerts for different events in the environment that you want to monitor.
- Cert management
- Network packet capturing.
- Well, I think Red Hat OpenShift has really elevated our time to deployment. Upgrades are so much easier and downtime is less. As we move more and more applications to containers we find that deployments/ updates are much easier and more often.
We actually are just getting into pipelines and gitops. This is going to help us immensely and I am looking forward to getting this going as it will help our developers get back to developing.
We are ONLY using the on-prem solution.
Tanzu is great as well, but I find Red Hat OpenShift more cost friendly and more Opensource apps available.
