Red Hat OpenShift
Overall Satisfaction with Red Hat OpenShift
We are Red Hat Partner that explore and dive deep into knowledge of each of the products that Red Hat offers. We have multiple instances of Red Hat OpenShift deployed in our lab environment to test and validate proposed architectures that we propose to the end customers. Also once we propose the architecture we typically proceed and create proposed architecture with the customer and support them on their journey with Red Hat stacks
Pros
- Operator Catalog
- Simplify overview of deployed stuff
- Console integration with various additions that helps developers
Cons
- OOMKilled is sometimes hard to find as it is not in events nor in status but rather on container status that sometimes we overlook
- Flexibility to spin up new environments
- In combination with ArgoCD ease of reproducing in case of outage
- Paired with Developer Hub and Golden Paths ease of deploying new service to the production with one click
It is now a required part of SDLC. All mentioned components above are in a way integrated in SDLC depending on the team and team responsibilities. Having one holistic platform helps management from administrator perspectives, and helps ease of use from developer perspective. We have one place to get Insights in everything - no need to jump back and front between various tools
Right now we mostly see hybrid approach with ACM being a cloud-first citizen, while workload clusters are depending on the customer user case, regulatory requirements and other internal policies if such workload can be run on the public cloud.
- Red Hat Virtualization, Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes, Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security for Kubernetes (StackRox), Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, Red Hat CodeReady Workspaces, IBM Storage for Red Hat OpenShift, Red Hat OpenShift and Red Hat Quay
They are great addition to the Red Hat OpenShift itself
