Though we have Accelerated Reader throughout the county, Renaissance myON News is a school-by-school decision. Renaissance myOn News is addressing the problem that most schools face about getting students to read more non-fiction books and articles. It also is helping students be aware of the news and world around them.
  • It is interactive and engaging for students and makes them want to read and explore.
  • Teacher guides are detailed, helpful, and easy to use.
  • AR tests on the myOn News articles that interest students.
  • Include it with the AR suite.
  • myOn News increases non-fiction reading levels for students.
  • myOn News articles broaden students' understanding of the world they live in and make them more aware of current events.

I think this is a great tool for middle school students, as they are starting to become aware of the world around them and topics that are going on in our country and world. In this digital age, students need to learn the difference between "fake news" and unbiased news reports. The interactive features, as well as letting them read articles based off their interests, is perfect for middle school aged children.

Renaissance has always had a great online help section with videos and articles. They also have an online community for users to discuss ways to use their products. They have free webinars available to users as well. Most one-on-one learning sessions are done by our instructional facilitators in our county.
