Overall Satisfaction with Sage Business Cloud Accounting (formerly Sage One Accounting)

Sage Business Cloud Accounting is currently being used by our accounting department only. It is currently only being used as our general ledger and financial report creator. We run invoices, and bills through Intacct but use a third party in code bills and a third party to pay bills.
  • The new bank rec is highly efficient when hooked up directly to your bank account.
  • The bill pay features and the accompanying workflow are particularly easy to use
  • Sage also allows a create collaborative workflow while working in either a small or large team.
  • Fixed assets needs some serious work. I don't even think the fixed assets module is native to Sage, they're all 3rd party bolt ons
  • Reporting could also be improved. We don't currently subscribe to custom reporting which is an additional add on, but the standard report writer is very difficult to use
  • It hasn't really been positive or negative. Simply it has served it's function
  • All real finance decisions and calculations are made by using excel and Sage is used more as a database
I have used Oracle's Peoplesoft and QB Enterprise, and I preferred Peoplesoft to everything. It really boils down to the question of how you're using the platforms. If you like to work in excel for analytics, the reporting and data outputs for PeopleSoft are much better because it's data with no formatting or frills. If Sage was to change its reporting outputs, then I wouldn't really have an opinion on which is better.

Do you think Sage Accounting delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Sage Accounting's feature set?

Yes

Did Sage Accounting live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Sage Accounting go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Sage Accounting again?

Yes

There's nothing mechanically wrong with Sage, and it serves our intended purpose. Again, we don't really use Sage to its fullest potential, but for what it does for us, there are few complaints other than the darn fixed assets module.
We pay extra to our reseller for support which has been one of our greatest decisions. Unless Sage has a different setup than QB or Peoplesoft, I can't say that their support team would be better than our reseller. From experience, larger companies get dragged down in terms of response time and ability for the first support contact to really assist with complicated issues.
Sage is great for larger organizations who may have multiple locations or large accounting departments. The modules are well separated so that proper accounting controls can be maintained. On the other hand, if you have a small accounting department as we do, the amount of features and controls can be overwhelming. We have to navigate through all the modules, so learning all the ins and outs of everything takes a lot of time and maintenance as things change on a quarterly basis.
