Overall Satisfaction with SAP Analytics Cloud

SAC in combination with Digital Boardroom is our dashboarding tool of choice and the management reporting tool. It sticks to our cloud and SaaS first strategy, delivers quick ramp up and adoption, and delivers the WOW experience our leaders and business have been looking for.

Pros

  • Browser-based technology, no client setup needed.
  • Great story and data modeling capability.
  • Ease of setup and great UI through Digital Boardroom.

Cons

  • Feature parity with more mature BI products like WEBI.
  • Performance issues from time to time.
  • Scripting capabilities in the planning area.
True SaaS solution built from ground level up. Ability to combine planning, BI and predictive functions in one tool. Digital boardroom add-on that truly impresses the business leaders and users.
It has a broad range of data sources from file, on-premise, to cloud. Where it does not connect directly, it can work through oData and OBC connectors. I do not see difficulties to using SAC in SAP shops. Some specialized data sources like Microsoft SSAS could be next on the radar.
All the key security and access controls in classic BPC is now in SAC. Perhaps matrix security is the only gap I can see. The business process flow is another area I would like to see SAC pick up soon.
It is great for a cloud-based dashboarding capability. Even though the modeling and data prep abilities have picked up significantly, it is still not a replacement for a data mart when extensive data ETL takes place.
