Overall Satisfaction with SAP Business Technology Platform

I used SAP Business Technology Platform SAP Emarsys for a couple of years. Mainly used for email marketing with a database of more than 800k members by the time I stopped using it. Used across email creation, automation programs, segment creation, analytics, and more.

Pros

  • not sure, I only used SAP Business Technology Platform SAP Emarsys. There were good things in it like analytics reporting and automation programs.

Cons

  • I think on SAP Business Technology Platform SAP Emarsys there's a strong need to update the platform to make it more competitive in the current market
  • Commercial model based on # of licenses vs Monthly Active Users isn't efficient and ends up being very costly for us
  • SAP Business Technology Platform SAP Emarsys segment creation depends on coding queries, limiting its usability to those who don't have a coding background
  • Low ROI - as a startup with limited user engagement but large userbase volume we ended up paying a whole lot of money for licenses that weren't being used
  • Required paying for an external agency to support us with coding and queries for segments creation.
Every connection was expensive and required dev work for us
support was always efficient

I only have experience using SAP Business Technology Platform SAP Emarsys and I can tell that, in my opinion, for email marketing the tool isn't a great option compared to other alternatives on the market. I think lots could be improved to make the platform perform way better and help marketers achieve a lot more with less. In my opinion, some functionalities are obsolete.
