Overall Satisfaction with SAP HANA
HANA is used over the whole Organisation. It is our backbone for all our SAP systems.
Pros
- Extremely fast.
- Reliable.
- Futuristic technology for SAP and non-SAP environments.
Cons
- License is a problem
- especially for Big Data Use Cases the License Model is not feasible
- HANA should be more Data Center Ready
- We can avoid a license contract with Oracle or IBM for our database.
- One-vendor strategy.
The major benefit was the use of the ERP systems in combination with our BW systems. We have had a massive cut down on ETL processes.
When we want to use HANA as a Database for non-SAP systems, we need the possibility to use different data types.
We are just at the beginning of our journey with HANA. There are some use cases where we have the idea that database technology can help us. But for us, it is too early for that question.
We are coming from Oracle and IBM DB2 as a database for SAP. HANA has a massive reduction in data volume and speeds up the SAP system dramatically.
