Overall Satisfaction with SAP S/4HANA Cloud

We are implementing SAP S/4HANA Cloud on a private MS Azure Cloud to replace a legacy SAP ECC system.

Pros

  • Good performance
  • Good uptime and high availability
  • More efficient daily upkeep and ongoing maintenance

Cons

  • More frequent cybersecurity threat prevention innovations would help in the long run
  • SAP S/4HANA Cloud will reduce total cost of ownership through improved efficiencies that we have already started to realize as we are implementing it.
User interface improvements need to continue to improve the t-code SAP GUI experience, although Fiori and SAC are a step in the right direction.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud is the way to go for the long term for SAP to best utilize the benefits of high performance, availability, security and lower cost of ownership in the cloud, even for companies like mine that has had different versions of SAP ERP on premise for decades.

7000 - Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, Accounting, Logistics, Sales, Order Management, Service, Management, Executive and other users across the company are SAP users.
300 - Functional, business, configuration, development, interface, DevSecOps, Basis, Security and a variety of other IT and business skills are needed to support S/4HANA Cloud.
  • Supply chain and logistics planning
  • Accounting postings and general ledger
  • Financial planning and forecasting
  • Manufacturing execution
  • Logistics, warehouse and order management
  • The cloud hyperscalers have enabled us to add more capacity to servers faster than previous ECC and older on premise systems to improve performance
  • Less infrastructure monitoring is needed from our internal staff for this cloud system
  • More vendor support from SAP and Microsoft is available with S/4HANA cloud
  • We may likely upgrade other global systems currently on ECC to S/4HANA Cloud in the near future
  • We may add other complementary SAP Cloud products to work with S/4HANA
  • We will more easily interface non-SAP systems to S/4HANA with its advanced and more universal interfacing capabilities
More than half of our business critical processes are supported by SAP, so we must renew and continue to use S/4HANA Cloud.
