Overall Satisfaction with SAP SuccessFactors HCM

We implemented SuccessFactors in Q4/25 to completely overhaul our HRSS and onboarding/offboarding systems. We had difficulties managing employee lifecycle with the ever increasing move to SaaS and cloud services, so having a product that could centrally manage all information and work seamlessly with our existing (and future) products was essential. From an engineering background, the ability to auto provision staff on our internal Active Directory was very valuable. We already had S/4HANA public cloud, so being able to utilize existing data from there and the IAS was straightforward.

Pros

  • Automated onboarding and offboarding
  • integration with existing S4HANA and BTP custom applicaitons
  • Great as a 'source of truth'

Cons

  • The basic connector to Entra/AD leaves a lot to be desired (additional development was required)
  • Some options in the Admin Centre can be convoluted and hard to find
  • Automated employee onboarding has saved countless IT hours. At least one hour per new employee.
  • Connectors automate information across all systems which saves time and resource
It's aesthetically pleasing compared to other platforms, and is straightforward enough to navigate without having a deep initial understanding of the platform. For admin access, it can be difficult to navigate through given the sheer scale, which in turn can make it difficult to define roles (such as specific access for IT, HR, L&D etc.). Worth noting we do work with vendors so this could lie with them more than the siftware!
We are in the process of connecting our payroll system and moving our leave management to SF. We can see AI being used as an employee chatbot, to find out balances, timesheet compliance and to submit leave requests.

Great for automated onboarding/offboarding across multiple systems (with the caveat that we did require additional development). Really great as a HCM in our business given we have a lot of SAP products.
Less appropriate where there are specific business rules where customization is required on multiple systems, as this can (understandably) be difficult to implement!
