The best multi-messenger and web workspace app
Overall Satisfaction with Shift
I use multiple chat and messaging services for business and personal use, 15 of them to be exact. Previously this meant running multiple different apps on my system or having a ton of browser windows open that I would accidentally close when I was done browsing normal websites. This was a huge pain. Shift was a godsend! I can combine all my chat/messaging apps into one location/app, and not have to worry about accidentally shutting one of them down. It gets heavy use from me each day, and the integration with all the platforms seems pretty solid. It's super easy to install, and any time I've had a bug, customer support is pretty prompt about getting back.
Pros
- Consolidate the use of multiple messaging apps
- allow web workspaces that free up the use of your browser for other things
- use chrome plugins in your messaging apps
Cons
- some of the plugins glitch across multiple apps
- the notification tags (when you have a message) can be glitchy/inconsistent
- memory management can be improved
- greatly increase my ability to follow multiple conversations by streamlining app location
- less IT headaches so I dont' need multiple apps on one machine
- web apps can be a little memory leaky since they are based on chrome engine, but overall not really an issue
It's not on the list, but I used Franz, another consolidated messaging app. It's not nearly as fully functional as Shift and was clunky/slow.
