Shift - Great Tool For Agencies Or People With Multiple Clients or Accounts
Overall Satisfaction with Shift
I use it in a web dev/digital marketing agency. So we have to switch between multiple accounts constantly. We use GSuite so with Shift, I can be logged in to as many accounts as I need to be, without having to be logging in constantly and out of them on Chrome. With one click, I can switch to a GMail account and have all the apps I need for that account logged into the same account simultaneously. It doesn't sound like much, but it saves so much time and hassle and improves productivity.
Pros
- Different Workspaces - You can have the same app in different workspaces but logged into different accounts.
- Easy to use for work and personal and keep them separate.
- Hundreds of apps to choose from.
Cons
- What's coming down the pipeline, most apps have a public roadmap you can see and make suggestions. Shift does not have that.
- You can suggest apps to be added, but there's no way to know when they are added. A new apps section would be helpful, or an email bulletin or something to say what has been added or is going to be added soon.
- Chrome extensions are available, but not all of them work fully or work at all with Shift. Which can be annoying. Password managers like 1Password in particular.
- Time and efficiency, hard to quantify but the aggravation of logging in and out of accounts all day leads to less stress and small amounts of time saved that soon add up.
- I can stay on top of multiple clients and be alerted to any issues and quickly resolve them.
- The ability to start the do not disturb feature, so I can get deep work done without multiple pings from emails/Slack/Whatsapp, etc.
I used to use a similar product called Station. In all honesty, Station was better but was discontinued. Shift is the nearest equivalent and works just as well. Station was free, Shift is an annual payment so I have peace of mind it's more likely to be around for the long term.
