Overall Satisfaction with SmartSearch ATS

SmartSearch was our ATS starting in 1995, we have since retired it as of last fall. The entire Recruitment Dept used it and it was accessible to HR.
  • There are pluses and minuses with all software.
  • It started off as a small company and has expanded over the years.
  • As we grew we realized that customizing the software created issues.
  • The reporting features were not robust and missed the mark for our reporting needs.
  • We outgrew the system for several reasons.
  • The lack of reliable reporting capabilities was a big reason we moved off of SmartSearch.
We have looked at other ATS products such as BrassRing, Position Management, SilkRoad, and Taleo.
We moved off of SmartSearch ATS since we outgrew the system capabilities and needed to implement robust reporting and a manager portal.
The size of the organization looking to deploy it is important; in my opinion small to mid size organizations would be optimal. [Consider the] level of support needed. Talk to past and current users who are in your industry and outside your industry. Talk to clients all over the country, especially those in your time zone.
