Overall Satisfaction with Snagit
SnagIt is a great tool for not only taking quick screenshots or elements of your screen to convey ideas and concepts to co-workers and clients. The built in video tools are fantastic to capture issues or quick how-to videos as well. Add to that the variety of markup tools available, which increases the value of the program significantly.
- Quick screenshots - One key capture and mouse to resize and focus the area of capture. Nothing could be simpler!
- Easy markups and notations - So easy to add notes, highlights or straight lines. Can also draw freehand and erase.
- Quick video capture - Great for quick How-to videos.
- Quick editing. Can draw and erase without the use of the more expensive albeit more powerful photoshop. This is low res editing but great in a pinch.
- Video capture - the feature is great when it works. It tends to get stuck on saving the file even to my local HDD and I have to kill the program in my task manager.
- The new menu for tools in 13 is less intuitive than it was in previous versions.
- So much easier to convey concepts and issues inside and outside the organization. Reduces the needs for meetings and overly repetitive emails/ phone calls almost 10 fold once all parties can see what is being described.
- I have captured videos for training and step by step guides which anyone can view at any time across the continent freeing up my time to focus on other pressing issues.
I have used the built in Snip-it program in Windows 10 and while serviceable it doesn't hold a candle to the power and simplicity of Snagit. I do not make the decision to purchase or install any software but I am glad that our IS department continues to support SnagIt as the tool has become a staple for me in my role.
