Real Network Bandwidth Monitor
Modules Used
- SolarWinds Network Bandwidth Analyzer Pack
- NPM
- NCM
Overall Satisfaction with SolarWinds NetFlow Traffic Analyzer (NTA)
SolarWinds Netflow Traffic Analyzer is being used along with npm and NCM. As npm covers fault monitoring and NCM provides Network Devices Configuration details and compliance checks done, the only left item was to audit and analyse who is eating the bandwidth and how - that's where NTA fits in. NetFlow Traffic Analyzer is being used to analyse Network traffic and who is consuming the bandwidth for better planning and [to] ensure security.
- Network Traffic Auditing for Youtube, Amazon prime
- Un-Recognized Application identification
- Better Bandwidth Management
I must say no other tools stands against SolarWinds NTA module, as it is easy to use tool with complete feature set, with almost all types of flows supported. Not just this, you will have rich information-based dashboard (fully customizable), out of the box reports, and Alert which is missing in other tools and vendors.
I must say application tagging and monitoring using Netflow Packet cannot be done well, other than SolarWinds. For say this process is very complex, but SolarWinds makes it just easy for everyone, as all you have to do is enable the flows and tag application (if it is not one out of 400 inbuilt already provided by SolarWinds).
We do monitoring for Traffic from Social Networking Websites such as Netflix, YouTube, [and] Amazon prime. Also some competitor websites.

Our Organization do not use VMWare vSphere Traffic Tool, as this requires a complete different skillset to configure the same and then utilize it for monitoring perspective. The main reason for that is vSphere is being managed by Virtualization Team, which is not interested in offering monitoring service, they might do it but for their own purpose not for monitoring specifically just like SolarWinds does.
