Overall Satisfaction with SQL Server Integration Services
We are using SQL Server Integration Services for mission critical import, export, and data transformations. It is being used across the whole organization for various business processes. Since we receive numerous file transfers, we have to create many SSIS packages and projects to import, and process the files. In addition, we send numerous files to clients.
We are also using SSIS to transfer data within our environment from server to server. When replication is not required, we prefer to use SSIS to transfer data at specific intervals to reduce overhead on the servers.
- File import and export
- Data transfer from source database to a destination database
- Database Maintenance tasks
- Data cleansing improved
- Additional database source connections
- Increased report delivery success rate by bullet proofing SSIS packages
- Increased employee efficiency by being able to create SSIS packages quickly
- Reduced difficulty from turnover since SSIS is a standard tool that new employees can pick up quickly.
- AbInitio and Clover
SSIS is much easier to use than any other ETL tool that I have used before. I have tried AbInitio and Clover in the past, and both of these tools were cumbersome to learn. After developing numerous SSIS packages, I have realized that SSIS can solve most issues that you face with a bit of creativity. The user interface is intuitive and allows for fast package creation from beginning to end. Throughout my career, I have worked with numerous SSIS developers, and it is easy to work on a SSIS solution that was created by another developer.
