Overall Satisfaction with Square for Retail

We use Square for needs within our Development/fundraising department. Since you can use the app on your phone with or without the device, it makes it easy to accept donations while out and about. We use it mainly at our fundraising events for donations or chance drawing purchases. And since more than one person can be logged in at any time, we can have a team working the room. We can use it for other needs within the organization, but it mainly addresses needs within the one department.

  • The app can be downloaded to any phone.
  • Can do some customization.
  • Can be used with or without the reader.
  • This may just be me, but I want some additional customizations for our biggest annual fundraiser, so that we can differentiate between donations, chance drawings, etc.
  • It made taking credit card donations at our events so much easier -- donors like that.
  • Over the phone donations are easier -- our donors like that too.
  • It was a step we needed to take to make on the spot mobile giving easier for us.
I have looked at some other options, but Square continually won out for ease of use, cost, and functionality. I'm so glad that it is basically with me wherever I go.
The Square app is always on my phone, so it is easy for me to take donations on the spot or process donations easily after an event where donor info is provided. I will be upgrading our readers this year to the "chip" version to make it easier at our November fundraiser. Sometimes I have donors call me to give a donation over the phone. Square makes the process so easy. It doesn't capture donor info, so I am prepared to do that separately. The emails from each transaction arrive quickly. Pulling reports is easy within their dashboard.
