Overall Satisfaction with SAP SuccessFactors Learning

  • User interface and system navigation is intuitive and easy to use.
  • The system has what appears to be unlimited options for configuration.
  • Data capture and calculations are accurate and reliable.
  • Ability to drill down on hierarchies and budgets is quite useful.
  • Integration and flow of data between modules makes SuccessFactors a comprehensive suite of HRIS applications.
  • We have received directions from Customer Success at SuccessFactors that drove workflow expectations of performance reviews and hierarchy changes that were not accurate.
  • SuccessFactors Customer Success needs to more thoroughly and accurately test functionality before providing to customers. When questions or problems have arisen, Customer Success has expected the customer to test solutions internally instead of Customer Success diagnosing and testing their system internally providing recommended solutions to their customers.
  • Reporting in SuccessFactors needs significant development and improvement. The standard reports only work if your configuration matches some pre-determined configuration that ties to the standard reports. We were not informed about the configuration requirements to support standard reporting, so we had to use an external report developer at added expense to get what we needed. SuccessFactors recommended and charged us for an open-source reporting tool called BIRT that requires an extremely high level of technical knowledge to use.
  • Our use of SuccessFactors for merit has increased the efficiency and accuracy of the process. We experienced system availability problems with a prior system, so it was great when SuccessFactors stayed up and operational throughout the process and no time was lost due to technical issues.
  • The hierarchy view provides an easier and more accurate view of the layers and spans of control within a company of our size.
First, make sure that you have your current and future state business requirements mapped out and documented before the engagement and implementation process begins. It is quite painful to attempt to optimize your process on the fly while attempting to configure a system. Second, the sales people will tell you what you want to hear and will find that there is "over promise, under deliver" syndrome once the contract is signed and you are handed over from sales to the implementation consultant. Make sure you all conversations, questions and answers are thoroughly documented throughout the implementation process. There is no SuccessFactors system administration manual because the system is so highly configurable, so be prepared to develop one for yourself. Make sure you get and contact references before purchasing.

Using SAP SuccessFactors Learning

Our company has invested a significant amount of time and capital in the configuration, implementation, communication and on-going maintenance of our set of SuccessFactors modules. The system is a good investment for the value it brings to a company of our size in terms of functionality and user friendliness. There is a lot of untapped potential that our company could realize and increase the ROI. Ironically, in order to realize the untapped potential of the system, we would need to work with external consultants, not SuccessFactors themselves, to identify such opportunities and solutions.
