Overall Satisfaction with Tableau Desktop
Pros
- Mapping.
- SQL data extraction.
- Quick filters.
Cons
- The maps do not work unless your computer is connected to the internet; if the data is showing an extract why do I need to be connected to the internet
- An easier way to learn the Tableau code to build your own equations. You can google or buy SQL coding, VBA, etc. but you cannot easily find Tableau coding.
- An easier way to lock down the tabs used to make the dashboard.
Using Tableau Desktop

1 - I support the users of the Tableau Destop versions. I have the Desktop professional series that allows me to connect the software to SQL where the data is housed for current and archive purposes. The programmer should have skills or experience in multiple programming languages, a good understanding of customer products and needs, experience working between business units and customers to move from customer needs to programming those into the tool, also the ability to innovate to be proactive of function enhancement to provide the customer what they didn't even know they needed.
- Promotional tracking.
- Forecasting.
- Customer data set compilation into an easy to use tool.
- Line reviews.
- To archive and house extra-large data sets into an easily accessible tool.
- Line Review.
- Insight generation.
- Multiple data set combinations.
Tableau Desktop Implementation
- Implemented in-house
