Overall Satisfaction with Teradata Vantage Advanced SQL Engine (Teradata Database)

Teradata is being used by the entire company with more than 1200 active users on a weekly basis. Teradata is our enterprise data warehouse. It was heavily used for handling massive volume of data to support our business with reports and raw data. It was used for analyzing web logs data.
  • Teradata is a MPP system and its capabilities allow [us] to process a huge amount of data with great performance since it works by the concept of nodes (amps), being scalable and offering great reliability about data recovering, massive processing managing, data backup, etc.
  • Teradata Vantage integrates Python, R and other tools that allow [us] to work and develop complex Data Science wise processes.
  • Teradata is extremely efficient and it has lot of utilities to support extraction from different source systems.
  • Support for geospatial data could be better.
  • Quite expensive compared to other products out there on the market.
  • Teradata support for R, ML
  • Explain plan is good to optimize the heavy i/o queries
  • Its robust mechanism to handle node failures, its extreme efficiency and its parallelism.
  • Teradata helped to deliver reports faster meeting SLA's.
  • Vantage incredibly enhanced performance with compression techniques that helps to store huge amount of data efficiently.
  • Cumulative solution to the business problems we often found too complex for our data team.
Teradata is one of the best databases compared to all the other RDBMS databases. It's because of the well thought architecture and features built around it. Nothing can match to its performance and speed. If cost is not the factor, I would highly recommend Teradata to anyone who want the best data warehousing database.

Teradata query engine is one of the best optimizer.s It's much faster and convenient to develop ETL process with Tetadata since it is designed to work effectively for most of the queries. Teradata provides support for connecting with many different systems to load and transfer terabytes of data efficiently with faster turnaround time.
