Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Zwift as a gaming company uses a vast number of software tools in order to empower itself to create the best software as possible. With this came a new challenge - how do we manage such amount of different systems with security and speed?
In this sense, Okta was a perfect match for us - we were able to integrate multiple softwares through API and SAML, and for most of softwares, use SCIM for account creations. This empowered our ITOps team to manage it with a small number of resources without losing the operational excellence, getting more revenue.

Independent Platform

Our main benefit was the increase opportunity of our IT Operations team. Instead of learning every single system and their particulatiries, Okta offers a neutral identify managament platform. This mean that once the Sysadmin perform the "hard work" (Integrations, testings, etc), our ITOps can keep it easily.

Customer First Team

Okta Education Services is expensive and is not suitable of all kind of companies (I.E: companies located outside US or Europe that relies in a less valuable currency). However, if the company can pay, there's good benefits. The trainings are easy and very straight forward, and makes the whole learning process very smothly.
Regarding their support, there's no complains - fast, good understand and a excellent sense of urgency.

Reliability

With such high update came a high confiability in Okta service. Our campany can trust Okta and know they will be there when we need. They are so stable that most of our issues are caused by the SaaS itself than Okta.

Alternatives Considered

Microsoft Azure Active Directory and OneLogin by One Identity

Okta was the most expensive choise between than, but still our best bet. This was caused because they were able to integrate with 90% of our software without any headache and 10% with some studies - this work would be higher and requires more working hours from our engineers if we opted to their competitors.

Likelihood to Recommend

Appropriate to: integration in a heterogeneous environment, where threre's multiples system, OS' and roles that need to be setup. Okta works well with multiples OS and guarantee standarization of all these softwares in a unique and easy interface. Okta is also good for startups and medium size company, because besides being expensive you can balance this high cost with a basic IT team, due to the easyness of the software.

Not appropriate to: companies that relies strongly in solutions of a single supplier, like Microsoft or Google. In these scenarios, will be chepear and faster to the inherit SSO solution.

Okta is a tool that worth their investiment!
