I work for largest US telecom client of HCL. TIBCO BW is used as EAI/SOA layer and is in production from past 10 years. At this time I am leading the effort of migration from BW 5.x to CE. Same use case is presented in TIBCO NOW.
- Ease of learn and use and maintain.
- Easy to understand business process as icons are UML based, this helps BA's and business users to do quick review if needed.
- Tested and proven, used by many industries (telecom, banking and logistics etc.)
- Speed of development and defect fixing is fast, which reduces time to market.
- The tool is good but takes more memory, in other words, a bit heavy.
- BWCE ide is based on eclipse, it would have better if TIBCO could have continued with old designer.
- Time to market has improved.
- Initial stages it was an issue to get skilled people, now availability is good. Many people are in the market.
Working with current client most of things are automated and using Jenkins and other tools CI-CD pipeline is in place. This did help for quick build and deployments. What it means is once dev check-in the code, the rest of the activities are automated, which saves lot of time and in turn money.
TIBCO Mappers are more easy to use - dev wise, and performance is excellent compared to other competitors. It is not mandatory to have XSLT knowledge for the person working on mapper - this is major advantage.
As tool is used in EAI apace where every thing is disconnected or connected via messaging layer. For person with no experience or knowledge in EAI it becomes difficult to digest the entire solution and how it works end-2-end.
One good part of BW 5.x is it has debugger, which shows exact message flow we can have break points and inspect i/o - which helps in two ways understanding the flow and easy to identify and fix defects, if any.

TIBCO BW is good in heavy lifting and complex orchestration, also performance wise it beats other competitors. Coupled with this, excellent customer support .
