Overall Satisfaction with TIBCO Spotfire

  • R engine for Predictive modeling is Fantastic.
  • Ability to use HTML and Java Script to make dashboard like a true webpage.
  • Ability to use Java scrip to build custom visualization like Speedometer.
  • Over functions to Slice and Dice Data are very Efficient, Calculations columns are easy to understand and use.
  • Ability to have Text area, [for example] floating text area within visualizations.
  • A GUI for creating joins between tables would be good add on.
  • Ability to change joins on the fly.
Spotfire is good for Engineering apps, but not a good tool when doing financial data. Spotfire was selected because my company uses more engineering tools for reporting.
  • Online training
  • Self-taught
It's not bad, but not great either - does not explain in depth features, and each module cost quite a bit of money.
No, some form of learning needs to be done before starting to build out dashboards. I would recommend the Spotfire boot camp session to start with.
Engineering applications are better reported using Spotfire, specially things like Production Forecast, Decline curve Fits and refitting it to measure against actual production. [It gives the] Ability to write back data to database using 3rd party add ons, or simple r script / iron python.
