Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Initial use started with quality organization but has expanded to sales, services, manufacturing and procurement.
The speed of development and flexibility of the data presentation capabilities and data ingestion independent of data source makes the time to solution appreciated.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Easy to add new JDBC data sources and expose data for analysis
Easy to create multiple visualizations and link them between dependent data and filters
Easy to extend with Python Scripting
Date handling and creating hierarchies very good.

Cons

Axis scaling is not easy to achieve logical values especially with multiple scales
Prompts for data selection inputs to a query is not user friendly and requires work to build into analysis
No versioning or autosave exists on creation and library

Alternatives Considered

Tableau Server, MicroStrategy Analytics, Domo, IBM SPSS and Incorta

Evaluation was several years ago but we continually evaluate against cloud and on-prem solutions.
For data discovery, interactive visualizations, statistical charting, Lasso, heat maps, CPK control carts still all hold up as strong points.
Limitations in user self-scheduling are limitations but that is apparently addressed in latest versions.
