Overall Satisfaction with Untangle NG Firewall

Untangle NG Firewall serves many purposes for our clients including comprehensive firewall, easy to configure VPN, fast routing, and internet filtering.

Pros

  • Secure firewall
  • Easy to use VPN (with OpenVPN)
  • Active directory connector with 2fa for VPN is very easy to implement
  • Fairly intuitive internet filter
  • Great support

Cons

  • Only issue is that the device limits are anemic. Far too low for most SMBs in an iot era.

Generally works well but seeing more and more bugs with the OpenVPN app.
Untangle is easier to use and a bit more reliable. Plus the support is very good.

We have successfully implemented Untangle NG Firewall in medical practices, law firms, manufacturing plants, accounting firms, and more. The support is generally very good and the partner plan is fair. There have been more bugs since Arista took over.

The support included with our partner account is excellent. We are satisified with competency and response times.
We had an issue with the OpenVPN app inexplicably requiring new profiles for a large number of clients. Support was able to help us quickly determine it was related to a ciphers command deprecation.
