Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup for AWS

This application takes the worry out of AWS. You can back up your instances and restore them across region boundaries as well as Availability Zones. It is a growing product that just keeps getting better and better. It backs up VPCs thoroughly and instances as well. All my RDS Databases are fully backed up as well. The only downside is that I can't back up aurora databases with it yet. We have an authentication setup to work with our SSO provider so it is easy to control access and the User Interface is simple and easy to understand.

  • there are a few endpoint types in a VPC that it does not handle well but they are obscure
  • until version 4.0 the sso functionality was lacking in robustness

you just set it up and forget it. It manages itself well and does what it needs to do when it is time to do it. It is reliable and robust. It is getting better each month as well as they roll out new features and enhancements to the system.
It is able to recover my instances and restore them to the way they were before tragedy. This allows me peace of mind when I hear about an outage in the cloud. The ability of this product to run reliably is great. and the ability to back things up by tags means I just have to give my virtual machine a certain tag and it is backed up automatically.

For people that have multiple AWS accounts this system handles that well. as well as those that need to back up large amounts of data in AWS. You can backup to another AWS account or you can backup to on-prem if you so desire. There is a lot of flexibility in the product and It has very rarely let me down.
