Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup for AWS

I used it to back up my existing cluster which I hosted on Microsoft Azure. It is actually good that it also supports other cloud platforms which helped us test our resources and this backup services on other cloud platforms as well, which included AWS and Google Cloud. The business problem was about making a backup of the existing cluster without messing with it in any way and we also had less talent in this field which made it hard for us to do this. But Veeam services are quite user-friendly and easy to use with great customer support, so we were able to perform the backup and even test it on our different clusters as well.

Pros

  • Supports so many cloud services providers.
  • Easy to configure, use and maintain.
  • Good customer support.
  • Good learning resources.

Cons

  • Resource consumption was little bit high, so it would be great if we could save some resources.
  • Backup types should be increased.
  • Only necessary files should be backed up, not the other unnecessary files, meaning that it should automatically detect those files.
  • Adding a backup service will always reduce your ROI, and our resources never faced any issue, so for us, it was completely loss.
  • But still, as compared to other providers it is low on cost.
  • And it is low on resources.
It was good in terms of UI, customer support, learning resources and documentation. It was also good in resource consumption and cost. It gave option to recover data on other cloud which is quite impressive. After recovering, you can create another backup in various regions and still manage all the the copies without any trouble.
Veeam has great customer support, easy to use documentation and easy to navigate UI which makes it easy to adapt. Another thing is that Veeam has wide variety of option for Cloud Providers as compared to Rafay. Veeam is also providing other solutions which helps in easy to implement those solutions, while in Rafay we have to go for other solution providers to get those services.

If you have a low budget, less talented people and you are on the edge of the mountain, you should use this. Because it is built in a way that it can help you cope with this situation. But if you have a high budget, highly talented people and you are at the top of mountain, it is your choice, like many other backup solutions are there and even many cloud service providers also provide their own backup service with many great features.
