Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365

National Beta Club moved to 0365 several years ago. At first thought, we assumed all our data was protected and backup in the cloud. We assumed there was nothing else required. Well, not so. After looking into the situation further we realized we need a solid backup solution for our MS 365 data. Veeam provides that solution for us.
  • Separating different groups of users.
  • Scheduling.
  • Backup.
  • Restore.
  • Nothing really. Veeam for MS 365 provides all the options and is super easy to use.
  • Veeam MS 365 has reduced our data loss risk.
  • It has provided a very easy restore feature allowing IT to service our staff quickly.
  • Set and forget, saving us a bunch of time and effort.
National Beta currently uses Veeam backup and recovery for our infrastructure backup solution. We kept coming across the MS Office 365 product through marketing emails from Veeam. After further examining the need for this type of solution, we decided again to implement Veeam's solution.
Veeam Backup for MS 365 has been the easiest backup solution to implement and configure we have ever deployed.
Our organization has had to recover data for users on occasion. Fortunately is has always been user error at this point. We have never had to restore data due to malicious behavior at this time. The process has always been very easy and flexible on the restore options.
Our organization has mostly used the restore to original location. Most of the time files have been lost/deleted by our users. Occasionally we have used the attach/zip feature. Either was the restore options are vast and super flexible.
We have found the ability to segregate users by their role and data they produce into different backup schemes valuable. This allows us to spend our storage resources on data that is critical while still providing backups to all users and data. Another feature we like is the user interface and configuration. It has been very straightforward to set up and deploy.
Since we were already familiar with Veeam this certainly played a factor into our decision. The demo of the product however sealed the deal. After researching the other products, it was clear to us that Veeam would provide the features we needed. We are a non-profit and Veeam also offered a non-profit discount.
Veeam support has always been very helpful. We have only used the ticket help system. They always respond in a timely fashion and have resolved any issues/questions we had.

We have some users that don't really produce data (files, emails, etc.), they are more just consumers. I like the ability to back up these users occasionally while allowing our power users to be backed up, or more if you wish. We think the interface to backup certain objects like users, MS Teams, SharePoint, etc. is straightforward.
