Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication

We use Veeam Backup & Replication across our corporate environment and across our data center environment. Veeam Backup & Replication has solved numerous issues regarding backup and restore options, including offsite copies of backups.
  • Centralized management of backups and restore options.
  • VERY granular control of backup schedules.
  • VERY granular control of backup network / traffic usage and throttling.
  • Licensing and annual maintenance is expensive.
  • Lack of native support to backup physical servers (End Point protection is a work around for this).
  • GUI can be complex at first.
  • Comfort in knowing backups are readily available and reliable
  • Comfort in knowing data is protected
  • Quick recovery of data if needed
As our company shifted from physical servers to host servers with VM servers, we outgrew the capabilities of Backup Exec. It was also not centrally managed and couldn't manage multiple servers like Veeam can. Symantec System Recovery and Backup Exec both relied on OS resources in order to perform backups.
Veeam Backup & Replication is almost perfect for virtual machines, but has little support (with workarounds) for physical sever backups.
