Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication
We are currently using Veeam as a part of our nightly backup routine.
- Sandboxing - to test updates/upgrades before implementation.
- Instant recovery.
- Backup speed.
- Restoring Windows files is a single threaded process and we would prefer a multithreaded one.
- Sharepoint restores are a little tricky.
- Tape backup can be inconsistent.
- Easy and fast recovery whether it is a file or a full vm.
- Fast backup compared to traditional backup.
- Great platform for testing.
We are not currently backing up to the cloud, but that is a future endeavor that we will be using with Veeam Backup!
We were able to successfully run a process that would have prevented our users from using a program that is vital to our business by creating a read-only copy of our server in a sandbox and running the process on the live server. We did not know how long the process would take. The process that we needed to run turned out to take 3 full days to finish. In our remote desktop farm, we occasionally run into disk corruption. With Veeam, we are able to quickly restore the server with minimal interruption.
We originally used Backup Exec in the early days of virtualization. Veeam's approach to backup was more modern in its process and cut our backup windows to a fraction of what it was. Restoring from backup was also much easier and faster and has only gotten better.
