Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have numerous workstations and virtual machines that utilize Veeam Backup and Replication. We create daily or weekly snapshots to make any unexpected failures easier to correct. Veeam does everything, automatically making our jobs easy.

Backs up bare metal machines.

Return on Investment

So far it has provided very good ROI for us, and it accomplishes all that we need it to.
Other than a few headaches updating, we haven't had much difficulty using it.

Number of Workloads Protected

We have about 20+ VMs, and another 30+ workstations and servers. It is the exact amount we anticipated when purchasing the product. It is easy to add additional machines to be backed up, as long as you have the licenses.

Veeam Backup and Replication Backup to Cloud Platforms

We are in an offline environment, so I have not had the opportunity to use their cloud backup. I imagine that would work really well though, and would be interested to try it.

Veeam Backup and Replication Copy Data Management

We have not used it for sandbox testing or security. We have used it to ensure compliance by verifying that all software is installed as it should be, and that it's not missing anything critical. We have tested the data recoverability a few times, and it worked very smoothly.

Alternatives Considered

Unitrends Recovery Series Backup Appliance

I am still getting to know Unitrends, but they seem pretty equal.

Likelihood to Recommend

If you have a lot of systems that need to be regularly backed up, you should look at using Veeam. It performs backups automatically every day or every week. It is especially useful for virtual machines, as the Veeam backups take up less disk space than the virtual machine snapshots.
