Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication

I use Veeam Backup & Replication for ad-hoc snapshots and full backups in a VMware environment. The performance, quickness, and simplicity are unbeatable.

Pros

  • Initial setup and requirements
  • Ease of use for simple backup and snapshots management
  • Notifications by emails and SNMP
  • Very useful management console

Cons

  • Possibility to have a web console to manage or follow jobs and storage status
  • Xen or kvm support
  • Positive: has allowed me to save a great deal of time
  • Positive: not free product offers the same deal of features
Not used for production but more for tests and for time-limited backups or snapshots.
We offload some backups on Soho NAD drivers and have benefited by not using the production datastores.
We have not used this functionality (community edition).
Veeam Backup & Replication is recommended for anything backup related to Vmware or HyperV environments.

Less appropriate for any non-Vmware or HyperV virtualization environments related
