Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication

We use Veeam Backup & Replication to back up our critical on-premise and remote workloads to on-premise storage and replicate to AWS for disaster recovery purposes. Veeam Backup & Replication protects our virtual infrastructure in our Colocation DC and two regional warehouses.

  • The application-aware processing is something we use heavily. We rely on it to protect numerous MS SQL server instances with very aggressive schedules to capture transaction logs during our workday. This gives us the ability to perform granular restores of SQL data with no loss.
  • Veeam Backup & Replication is very quick to perform backup and restore operations using commodity hardware, which is much more economical than specialized platforms.
  • The license application could be overhauled to pull information from the Veeam customer portal.

We protect over 80 on-premise workloads (physical and virtual) and 20 cloud workloads. This is less than we anticipated as we consolidated several ERP and WMS applications to a cloud solution.
  • Veeam Backup & Replication has allowed us to protect our workloads even when vendors do not offer backup support. This has been invaluable.
We have always used Veeam Backup & Replication.
We backup our AWS instances and also replicate backup data to AWS from our on-premise Veeam Backup & Replication system.
We do not use it.
Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365), AWS Elastic Beanstalk
Veeam Backup & Replication works very well for simple VM backups, more advanced backups of application data such as Active Directory objects, on-premise Exchange, and MS SQL. It allows us to use a very common process and interface to protect multiple workloads. I would like to see Veeam Backup & Replication be able to backup hosted Exchange mailboxes, such as Microsoft365 accounts or even Dropbox.
