Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 is an excellent product
Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365
We originally used Veeam to back up our Microsoft 365 exchange accounts to our on-prem storage, but as we developed SharePoint and began using OneDrive for large file shares with our customers, we started running out of storage. Veaam Data Cloud resolved this issue. We reduced our bandwidth usage as well because those backups now go cloud to cloud instead of cloud to local.

Cons
- Limited Integration with Third-Party Tools
- Restore Testing Could Be More Automated
- User Interface Complexity for New Admins

- Improved Compliance and Audit Readiness
- Cost Predictability and Scalability
We knew we need to back up our office 365 data from the start. We had a ransomware issue in 2021 and knew it could happen again. Immutable back-ups were a must. It only made sense to continue with our cloud data as well. Keeping it in the cloud as the first level of back up was also a no-brainer.
I recently introduced a new email retention policies via exchange DLP. I thought I was clear about the results of these new policies, but a handful of users lost "important emails" and needed them restored. It was a quick and easy process to bring them back and resolve their issue.
We have used all of these methods recently. Restoring directly to the original location is excellent and preferred, but we recently needed information from a user that had left the company and her mailbox was deleted. We still had a few recovery points with her email and were able to .zip it and send it.
Granular Restore Options. What I Like: You can restore individual emails, files, calendar items, or Teams messages without needing to recover an entire mailbox or site. Goal It Helps Achieve: This saves time and minimizes disruption. For example, if a user accidentally deletes a single important email, IT can restore just that item in minutes—keeping productivity high and avoiding unnecessary data recovery.
We were already familiar with Veeam and had an ongoing relationship with them, so it made sense to stick with them. We always do our due diligence and research other options though. CodeTwo would have taken care of us, but didn't offer any additional features and had some limitation we weren't willing to compromise for.
