Veeam Data Cloud for Office 365 rocks

After migrating our on-premise mailboxes to the Office 365 environment, we were faced with the question of how to back them up. Microsoft retains deleted emails for a number of days, but what about emails that fall outside this period? How can we remain compliant? Since we retain our on-premise backups for seven years, we sought a solution to this issue.

A simple case of ‘closing the barn door after the horse has bolted’. An email from someone in management had disappeared, and even an analysis using a Microsoft 365 E5 license didn't recover the missing email. Immediately afterwards, there was suddenly a need for a good and affordable backup solution.

Veeam Data Cloud for Office 365 is mainly used by the IT department. Data restores are initiated, monitored, and, after successful restoration, communicated by the IT department. Restores performed to date have been completed within a reasonable time frame, giving us confidence that this is a good and robust solution.

Veeam Data Cloud for Office 365 has often helped us restore a single email or calendar item, or, when it wasn't clear what was missing, provide a .pst file of a subfolder and an employee's entire mailbox. Another strong feature is that Veeam Data Cloud for Office 365 can also perform restores to a subfolder other than the one where the data was located, allowing the employee to easily compare and drag and drop emails.

The simple interface is another favorite feature; it's straightforward and clear, making it easy to start a full or partial restore, generate comprehensive reports, and view clear, fixed all-in prices.
